Rasha graduated in Medical Secretarial Studies and Medical Records from the College of Science and Technology in Gaza. Financial difficulties have prevented her from obtaining her graduation certificate, which she needs to apply for work. She also hopes to continue her education in health administration.تخرّجت رشا في تخصص السكرتارية والسجل الطبي من كلية العلوم والتكنولوجيا في غزة. وبسبب الظروف المادية الصعبة، لم تتمكن بعد من استخراج شهادة التخرّج التي تحتاج إليها للتقدّم إلى الوظائف. وتأمل أيضًا في مواصلة تعليمها في تخصص الإدارة الصحية.

Their family home was in Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis. Rasha remembers its garden, flowers and greenery, and waking to birdsong. Mornings meant preparing breakfast together; ordinary days were filled with conversation, laughter and helping with housework. Shared meals and family gatherings are now among her most treasured memories. Meet Dareen.تعرّفوا إلى دارين.

Dareen is 23 and studied Education in English Language at the University of Palestine. She began in 2021 and graduated in 2026. In her latest reply, she says 1,700 shekels remain outstanding before she can receive her graduation certificate and apply for jobs.دارين تبلغ من العمر ٢٣ عامًا، ودرست تخصص تربية لغة إنجليزية في جامعة فلسطين. بدأت دراستها عام ٢٠٢١ وتخرّجت عام ٢٠٢٦. وتقول في ردّها الأخير إن المبلغ المتبقي لاستلام شهادة تخرّجها هو ١٧٠٠ شيكل، وإن الحصول عليها سيتيح لها التقدّم إلى الوظائف.

Her dream is to have a place to teach children and encourage their education. She also wants an income of her own: the chance to meet her personal needs and work towards the things she hopes for.تحلم بأن يكون لديها مكان لتدريس الأطفال وتشجيعهم على التعلم. كما ترغب في دخل خاص بها يتيح لها تلبية احتياجاتها الشخصية والعمل لتحقيق ما تتمناه.

A shared family journey.رحلة عائلة واحدة.

The family consists of eight people: their parents, three daughters and three sons. Dareen has shared the following account of their displacement and the loss of their home.تتكوّن العائلة من ثمانية أشخاص: الوالدين وثلاث بنات وثلاثة أبناء. وقد شاركت دارين التسلسل التالي لنزوحهم وفقدان بيتهم.

The sisters share a family story, but each also has her own experiences, ambitions and personal needs. Dareen has asked that both sides of that story be recognised. Rasha has also described long walks to obtain food and water, and the fear that accompanied daily life. 9 October 2023 — Leaving home٩ أكتوبر ٢٠٢٣ — مغادرة البيت

Dareen says the area was evacuated on 9 October 2023. The family left home and stayed in UNRWA schools in Khan Younis.تقول دارين إن المنطقة أُخليت في ٩ أكتوبر ٢٠٢٣، فغادرت العائلة بيتها ولجأت إلى مدارس الأونروا في خانيونس.

February 2024 — Another moveفبراير ٢٠٢٤ — نزوح جديد

They moved from the schools to Mawasi Khan Younis in February 2024. Later, they returned to Abasan; the date of that return has not yet been established.نزحوا من المدارس إلى مواصي خانيونس في فبراير ٢٠٢٤. ثم عادوا لاحقًا إلى عبسان، ولم يُحدّد بعد تاريخ تلك العودة.

May 2025 — Displaced againمايو ٢٠٢٥ — نزوح مرة أخرى

In May 2025, they were displaced to Khan Younis and stayed in the street. They later moved to Mawasi Rafah. Dareen gives June for this move; its year is still being confirmed.في مايو ٢٠٢٥، نزحوا إلى خانيونس وأقاموا في الشارع. ثم انتقلوا إلى مواصي رفح. وتذكر دارين شهر يونيو لهذا الانتقال، ولا يزال عامه قيد التأكيد.

June 2026 — Learning their home was goneيونيو ٢٠٢٦ — فقدان البيت

Dareen says their home was destroyed in June 2026. They were already displaced elsewhere and learned some time later that it no longer existed.تقول دارين إن بيتهم دُمّر في يونيو ٢٠٢٦. كانوا حينها نازحين في مكان آخر، وعرفوا بعد مدة أن بيتهم لم يعد موجودًا.

Losses within the familyفقدان أحبة من العائلة

Dareen also shared losses within their extended family: her maternal uncle on 26 September 2025, paternal cousins on 11 March 2024 and 9 September 2025, and her grandmother on 2 March 2025. She has not specified the number of cousins or the circumstances of their deaths.شاركت دارين أيضًا فقدان أحبة من العائلة: خالها في ٢٦ سبتمبر ٢٠٢٥، وأبناء عمها في ١١ مارس ٢٠٢٤ و٩ سبتمبر ٢٠٢٥، وجدتها في ٢ مارس ٢٠٢٥. ولم تحدّد عدد أبناء العم أو ظروف وفاتهم.

In their update on 18 October 2026, the sisters confirmed that all eight family members were still sharing a small, worn tent. They described shelter that no longer meets their needs, especially with winter approaching. They want protection from cold and rain, enough space for the family, and privacy.في تحديثهما بتاريخ ١٨ أكتوبر ٢٠٢٦، أكدت الأختان أن أفراد العائلة الثمانية ما زالوا يتشاركون خيمة صغيرة ومهترئة. ووصفتا مأوى لم يعد يلبي احتياجاتهم، خصوصًا مع اقتراب الشتاء. إنهم بحاجة إلى الحماية من البرد والمطر، ومساحة كافية للعائلة، وخصوصية.

The sisters identify food, suitable shelter, clothing, medicine and hygiene supplies as important needs. Several expenses recur. Rasha hopes for a safe, dignified life and the opportunity to support her family through her own work. Dareen hopes to teach children and gain greater independence.
